Obituary

Karma Bean Cox, 78, died October 7, 2007 at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho from complications of cancer.

She was born November 22, 1928 in Wilford, Idaho to Lloyd James and Millie Birch Bean, their third daughter. She grew up on a dry farm east of Drummond, Idaho. During the winter months she and her siblings skied to school and in good weather they rode horses. There was no school bus to take them to school. She attended grade school in a one room log school-house where all eight grades attended. Her family moved from Drummond to St. Anthony, Milo and then to Shelley/Jameston area. She graduated from Shelley High School as salutatorian in 1947.

Karma married William "J" Cox, son of Harrison and Nellie Cox on November 25, 1947 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. During their married life they lived in Woodville, Jameston, Monteview, Ammon and north of Idaho Falls where they had a farm and beautiful home on East River Road.

Karma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings during her life namely: Relief Society visiting teacher all during her married life until she passed from this life, Primary teacher, Relief Society president, Stake R.S. presidency, R.S. quilting chairman, Work Director in R.S., Deseret Industries Homecraft (helping to create hundreds of quilts for needy families), as well as many other callings.

Karma and Bill served missions together for the L.D.S. Church microfilming genealogical records in New Zealand, as temple workers in the newly built Chicago L.D.S. Temple for a year, and as Church service employment missionaries.

She has enjoyed sewing and quilting, working in the garden raising flowers, vegetables and strawberries. She has sewn several quilts for each of her seven children, as well as quilts and afghans for each of her 29 grandchildren. She has sewn baby quilts for 14 great grandchildren and has quilted about 30 more for future great-grandchildren. She has quilted baby quilts in various wards she & Bill were in. She is loved so much by her husband, children and grand-children and we will miss her.

Karma is survived by her husband, Bill, of Idaho Falls; six daughters and one son: Saundra of Idaho Falls; Jenny (Hal Dean) Bateman of Idaho Falls; Rozann (Bill) Meyer of Vancouver, Washington; Karlene (Nick) Tanner of Spokane, Washington; Kate (Dell) Tyler of Wilson, Wyoming; Lloyd (Ranae) Cox of Idaho Falls; and Leesa (Larry) Wilde of Jackson, Wyoming; 28 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
