Kathleen Swendsen Ammon, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her son’s home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Kathleen was born on August 11, 1940, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Lewis Kendall Swendsen and Myrtle Ione Anderson Swendsen. She grew up in Rexburg and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1958. She attended Brigham Young University and Idaho State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and later received her master’s degree.
Kathleen married Robert C. Ammon Sr.; they were later divorced. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed coloring, puzzles, word searches, reading, and traveling.
Kathleen is survived by her sons, Robert C. (Michelle) Ammon Jr and John K. (Michelle) Ammon, both of Idaho Falls; her daughter, Stacia L. (LaMont) Adkins of Michigan; and her sister, Leslee Ann (Wayne) Boss of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Ione Swendsen; her son, Jeff A. Ammon; and her grandson, Tyler Ammon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Gem Lake Ward, 3195 S. Holmes Ave. The family will meet with friends from 7-9:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
