Church
November 12, 1930 – May 24, 2017
Kathleen "Kay" Goff Church, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at her home of causes incident to age under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
She was born November 12, 1930, in Rupert, Idaho, to Wesley Darwin Goff and Mary Cathleen Crawforth. She grew up and attended schools, graduating with honors from Rupert High School in 1949.
After graduation, she briefly attended nursing school in the state of Washington. However, soon after arrival, she realized that she missed the love of her life and returned and married Irel Douglas Church on January 28, 1950, in Rupert, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized and sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 23, 1975 for time and all eternity.
Kay was preceded in death by her beloved eternal companion, Irel; and by her beautiful daughter Ann Tueller (Robert). She was also preceded in death by her father, Wesley, mother, Mary, and three siblings, Darwin, Hollis and Glen. When she was three years old, her father died leaving his wife a widow with four young children. She grew up during the Depression. The family struggled with hardship and obstacles, but their love, faith and hope led to a lifetime journey of happiness.
Kay is survived by her four sons, Michael (Pamela), Kent (Linda), John (Elise) and Scott. Her posterity is comprised of 15 grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren and growing. Family is her joy, happiness and passion. Beauty was all around her and there was love at home with her family.
Kay was a great supporter of her family. She was always in attendance at piano recitals, dance reviews, concerts, sporting events, scouting events and church activities She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many positions of the Relief Society, Young Women, Scouting and her favorite- Primary. She would talk often of the Gospel and the joy it brought to her life. She was grateful for her ancestral past and was thankful for the opportunity to frequently visit the temple.
Kay worked in the jewelry business with Jensen Jewelers for many years earning multiple certifications in gemology; and at the same time earning many honors and cultivating many friendships through an expanded clientele. She was a kind and helpful neighbor that earned her a special spot in many people's heart that lasts to this day. She will always be remembered as the first to be of service to those in need. Her heart was truly full of the pure love of Christ for her fellowman. She never judged but always gave and shared.
The family of Kay wish to thank all those that have helped in these latter years. We wish to thank the Hands of Hope Hospice that gave her the dignity to be at home with the spirit of her beloved husband. Their daily visits allowed another venue of love and friendship. A special thank you also goes to her physician, Dr. Alan Avondet, and his staff, who offered continuous professional care throughout her treatment and welfare.
A special thank you also goes to her ward family of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She would always talk of the many visits and especially the young men that would come each Sunday. They always loved the Tootsie-Roll Pops they would receive!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Visitation with friends will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
