Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend – Kathleen Brown Wilson passed away in her home on Saturday, February 4, 2017 after a tremendous journey of 85 years.

She was born July 30, 1931 in St. Johns, Arizona to George Albert Brown and Iris Esther Whiting. She was the seventh of eight children. She married Elwood D Wilson on December 20, 1955 in the LDS Mesa Arizona Temple.

Kathleen attended Brigham Young University where she met Elwood, her lifelong sweetheart. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in speech therapy with a minor in English, and later earned a degree in elementary education. She developed a lifelong love for education and literature. Kathleen dedicated her life to her greatest passion, teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to her children. Kathleen was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She held many callings and served where asked. She served at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho), at the Idaho Falls Temple and later served a mission with her eternal companion in the Texas Houston Mission.

Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Elwood, who tenderly cared for her throughout their marriage, and their children: Lee (Leanne) Wilson, Twin Falls, ID; Craig (Del Reanne) Wilson, Albuquerque, NM; Sarah (Wendell) Hintze, Idaho Falls, ID; Scott (Miranda) Wilson, Cedar Hills, UT; Brent (Laura) Wilson, Golden, CO; Mark Wilson, Idaho Falls, ID; Mike (Janet) Wilson, Afton, WY; George (Diana) Wilson, Rexburg, ID; Christine Wilson, Ammon, ID; 28 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Margaret, Roberta, Beverly, and Frank. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Barbara, George, and John.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 in the LDS Ammon 23rd Ward Building at 4030 John Adams Parkway, Ammon. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and Friday morning 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to service at the chapel.
