Obituary

Kathryn Ann ‘Kitty’ Curl passed peacefully on April 30, 2026, with her family by her side. Born January 1944 in Wakefield, Rhode Island, she is survived by her husband Robert, her two children, Ryan Curl of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Carolyn Skyer of Siljan, Norway, her sister Angel Shoemaker, and her grandson Ryan Skyer.

In 1968, the family moved from Chicago to Idaho Falls, where they would live for the next 58 years. She became very active in the community as a successful business owner and member of numerous clubs and organizations, including the Idaho Falls Ski Club, the Ninety-Nines, and the USRV Arabian Horse Club. She was an avid competitor in Hunter-Jumper and Dressage equestrian events, winning numerous blue ribbons throughout the northwest.

At age 60, she began running 5 and 10K races, which led to her becoming an IronMan triathlete, ultimately being invited to compete in the 2010 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

At age 70, she became a private pilot, and flying would remain a passion for the rest of her life.

Her adventurous spirit will be remembered by her many friends and family.

A memorial celebrating her life is being planned for later this summer. Cremation was under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
