IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katie Ranae
Wray
December 27, 1933 – July 24, 2022
With reverence, we announce the passing of our angel mother and grandmother, Katie Ranae Wolfley Wray. Faithful servant to the end, mother stepped into eternity on July 24, 2022, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, James D. Wray in 1997.
Katie was born in Bancroft Idaho on December 27, 1933, to Louis E. Wolfley and Gwennie L. Smith Wolfley of Star Valley, Wyoming, where she spent her days and years of her youth. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served in the Idaho Falls Temple for more than 25 years, and ministered in numerous ward and stake callings throughout her life.
Katie will be remembered by all who knew her as an extraordinarily gifted cook and baker. Until the day of her passing, at the age of 88, she was employed at the Shelley Senior Citizen Center where she had worked for more than 17 years. Her pies and bread were legendary! Truly her happiest days were spent in a kitchen… any kitchen! She is remembered by many as the "cinnamon roll lady" and will be missed by all who got "plump" on her pastries! Her life was defined by love and was offered freely; her soul was tuned to the frequency of service. Her doors were never locked, and the light of her heart was a beacon for the world's weary travelers.
She is survived by her seven children: Rod (Karen) Wray of Cedar City, Utah; Luann (Lonnie) Hodges (deceased) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Vicky (Rick) Young of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Tammy (Bob) Geddes of Soda Springs, Idaho; Grover (Sue) Wray of Grant, Idaho; Sandra (Bruce) Hansen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Darin (Heidi) Wray of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by 42 grandchildren, and more than 100 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Her family was her greatest treasure! Mother- "Thou'rt gone, the abyss of heaven Hath swallowed up thy form; yet, on my heart Deeply hath sunk the lesson thou hast given AND shall not soon depart...! - William Collen Bryant.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Idaho Falls 28 th Ward, 2025 Jennie Lee Dr., with a visitation from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Riverside Thomas Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmortuary.com.
