Kay Stephen "Steve" Barton, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes. He was born March 31, 1936, in Murray, Utah, to Clinton W. Barton and Geneva Michaelson Barton. He grew up in Duchesne, Syracuse, and Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Davis High School and then graduated from East High School in 1954. He attended the University of Utah where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. On June 12, 1959, Steve married Anita Garside in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Salt Lake, Los Angeles, Beaumont, Texas and Idaho Falls. Steve taught school, was a salesman, and a pharmaceutical representative. He was active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in 2 Bishoprics, 2 high councils, and many other positions. As a young man, he served a mission to New England. Steve and Anita served a mission in Mexico City at Benemerito de las Americas LDS Church high school. Steve loved fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, traveling, viewing wildlife, reading, friends, and playing cards. He is survived by the following: wife, Anita Barton of Idaho Falls; Daughters: Leslie Barton of Idaho Falls; Lisa (Rob) Harding of Idaho Falls, and Stephanie (Greg) Cole of Lindon, Utah; Son, Shawn (Stephanie) Barton of Lake Oswego, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; Brothers: Hal C. (Colleen) Barton of Rexburg, Idaho; Robert (Bette) Barton of Salt Lake City, Utah; John Lynn Marilyn) Barton of Sacramento, California; and Douglas (Jayne) Barton of Salt Lake City, Utah. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Beattie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2011, at the Homestead Ward, (Ucon Stake Center), 2967 E. 105 N., Ucon with Bishop Ryan Loftus officiating. The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Monday at the church one hour prior to the services.
