Obituary

Kaye Knapp Hales, 66, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016, at her home.

She was born August 9, 1949, in Idaho Falls to Justin Alma Knapp and Lois Call Knapp. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. She graduated from Bonneville High School in 1967. She continued her education at Ricks College and Brigham Young University where she studied Family Science.

On November 14, 1970, she married Gordon Dean Hales in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City and Sandy, Utah. In 1976, they moved to Idaho Falls, and in 1977 they moved to Ucon.

Kaye worked at Slussers Wholesale and at Idaho National Laboratory.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Primary and in the Presidencies of the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She was a dedicated visiting teacher.

Kaye had friends wherever she went. She enjoyed going to antique and art shows, and she loved going to Yellowstone National Park.

Her interests included interior design, literature, music, plant life, poetry, cooking, sewing, listening, singing and providing service.

Kaye did everything in her power to provide every opportunity for her children.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Hales of Idaho Falls; a son, Jason (Amy) Hales of Idaho Falls; daughters: Jana (Matthew) Jorgensen of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Sara (Michael) Farmer of Idaho Falls; a son, Ryan (Brittany) Hales of Rexburg, Idaho; a sister: Ann (Rex) Coleman of Terreton, Idaho; a brother, Doug (Janet) Knapp of Idaho Falls; a sister, Karla (Arlen) Oswald of Rigby; a brother, Alan (Ellen) Knapp of Idaho Falls; a sister, JoLyn Knapp of Idaho Falls; and 13 grandchildren.

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Lois Knapp.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Ucon Homestead Ward, 2967 East 105th North. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Rexburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the LDS Church General Missionary Fund.
