Keith Robinson Barrus, 89, of Idaho Falls, died December 3, 2005, at his home. He had been under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
He was born August 14, 1916, in Fairview, Wyoming, to Aldo B. Barrus and Mabel Robinson Barrus. In 1918, his family moved to Sugar City, Idaho, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1935. He continued his education at Ricks College and the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II from January 1945 until July 1946.
On April 21, 1941, he married Corinne Z. Rounds in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 3, 1965. They lived in Mt. View, Wyoming, where he worked at People's Market, and in 1954, they moved to Idaho Falls where he owned and operated the Rainbow Café. His wife, Corinne, died March 7, 2003.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest and had served in the Presidencies of the Sunday School, Young Men, and the Elders Quorum.
He enjoyed woodworking, riding and working with horses and especially, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was a dedicated husband and father, whose love and devotion to his family was felt by all who were around him.
He is survived by the following: daughters, Janet (Keith) Hart, Louise (Don) DeRoche Glenna (Rick) Goeken Barbara Chadwick all of Idaho Falls son, Alan Keith (Cathy) Barrus of Rigby 25 grandchildren 40 great-grandchildren sister, Fern Seager of Ogden, UT brother, Rondo (Janet) Barrus of Sugar City
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 brothers, and a grandson, Kimball Hart.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at the Ammon LDS Second Ward, 1100 Tiebreaker Dr. With Bishop Jim Flamm officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, Dec. 6, 2005, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center, PO Box 58249, Salt Lake City, UT 84158-0249.
