He was born on February 12, 1935, in Ririe to Arthur Glen Johnson and Irma Ardella Smith. He grew up and attended schools in Irwin and Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School in 1953.
He played American Legion baseball and traveled all around Idaho and Montana. After High School he was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and played three years of minor league baseball as a pitcher. He attended Spring Training for three seasons in Orlando Florida. After that he served in the US Army.
After serving in the Army he returned to farming in Ririe. On September 4, 1959 he married Sally E. Nelson in Portland, Oregon.
He was Director of the Jefferson County Jr. Posse for seven year's. He was a member of the Ririe Lions Club and Chairman of The Board of Trustees for Ririe School District #252. He worked for Kelly Canyon Ski Hill, The Marble Shop, and Idaho Travertine. He was the Water Master for the Great Feeder Canal for 20 plus years. In 1998 he started his own business Eagle Rock Granite & Marble Inc. where he worked until his death.
He loved Horse Training, Racing, Business, and his family especially his two special grandchildren Mitchell and Michaela Marsh.
He is survived by wife Sally of Ririe; one daughter, Angela (Johnson) Marsh of Ririe; one son Keith A. Johnson (Kolette) of Ririe, 2 grandchildren Mitchell Marsh and Michaela Marsh of Ririe; 2 brothers, Richard G. Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona, and William Johnson (Eileen) of Idaho Falls; and one grandpup Robbie.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Glen Johnson & Irma Ardella Johnson, and a sister, Donna Johnson Harding.
Memorial Services will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2006 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Military Rites will be provided by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to your favorite local charity.
