Obituary

Ken Littleford, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born to Edith and Edward Littleford on September 30, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho. The family later moved to Idaho Falls, where Ken grew up and went to school. Starting his working life early, Ken worked for Ferrell's upholstery sweeping floors until he learned to sew, and upholstery was one of his many trades. Ken worked for Snake River Equipment Company as an auto body and fender man.

On Nov. 12, 1968 Ken and his two boys, Tracy (4) and Jody (1) married the love of his life Jacque Walsh.

In the 1970's Ken ran his own auto body shop. His passion was building custom street rods. In the late 1970's Ken let his custom street rods become his hobby and began working for Argonne National Laboratories. Ken worked as a Maintenance Specialist until 1998 when he was medically retired.

Hunting was the second love of his life. He spent many Septembers bow hunting with his wife and a few lifelong friends. Ken had a knack for inventing things; his favorite was one of the first Cow Calls on the market "The Cow Call Imitator".

Ken outfitted his home with solar pre-heated hot water, electricity for the garage powered by a wind generator and solar panels. The garage was always full of projects for the grandkids, go-karts, motorcycles, and chopper bikes.

Autumn brought great harvest from Kenny's "dwarf" walnut tree. After a few years of hit and miss, Ken developed three fascinating machines to husk walnuts from his tree. Walnuts were eagerly shared with friends and family.

Family thoughts on the day of his passing: He always taught me that can't isn't in the Littleford's vocabulary; I love him to much, more than the world; His smile radiated true joy; If you ever had a question he always had the answer;.his passion for making sure that everyone was taken care of;.a very creative man who could turn nothing into something amazing; Grandpa was very stubborn, he always cared for others and was very loving; He and I built things together, he was a completely awesome person;the coolest grandpa you can ever have; He is completely nice.

Ken was remembered by friends for his kindness; never refusing a request; his reply for the question, "How are you?" was always, "Better than most!". Ken was a craftsman, jack-of-all-trades; he always had a hug when nothing else would do; and he had many "sisters from different misters" and "brothers from other mothers". He is loved and will be missed by many.

Ken is survived by his wife Jacque, sons, Tracy (Donita) Littleford and Jody of Spokane, Washington; daughters, Tammy (Jason) Griggs, and Barb (Perry) Arehart; grandchildren, Dustin (Ashley) Littleford of Fort Bliss, TX, Zac Littleford, Gabriel Littleford, Kyle Summers, Mikayla Griggs, and Kaylee Griggs (all from Idaho Falls), Crystall Littleford of Spokane, WA; great-grandchildren Shyanne Littleford of Fort Bliss, TX, Bridgette Bell and Dallon Arehart of Idaho Falls; brothers, Roger (Kay) Littleford and Ted (Doreen) Littleford of Idaho Falls; mother-in-law, Betty Walsh of West Richland, WA; brothers-in-law, Butch (Renee) Walsh of Firth, and Bill and Pam Walsh of Butte City, Idaho.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Golden Littleford, and sister, Jewel Nelson; Father-in-law Bill Walsh, and brothers-in-law Kurt Walsh and Bryon Walsh.

It is Ken's wish that there be no services; however, a "Celebration of Ken's Life" is planned for Saturday October 11, 2008 "under kenny's walnut tree". Family will meet with friends during an open house at the family home from 2-5p.m. Please Join us! If it is raining we'll be on the deck in the back yard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Yellowstone Group Homes, 560 W. Sunnyside Rd. Idaho Falls, ID 83402; and Creekside Hospice 3686 Washington Parkway, Idaho Falls, ID 83404. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
