Kent Warren Marlowe passed away on December 28, 2013 of pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 26, 1938 in Vancouver, Washington, the third of six children born to Mary Alder Ward and Hilding Mauritz Marlowe. He was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from Olympus High School in 1956. Kent chose to spend his mandatory military service in the National Guard, and earned the Army distinction of "Expert Marksman" on the shooting range. From 1958 - 1961 he served an LDS mission to the Northern Far East Mission, assigned to Japan. He returned to Utah to finish his degree in Sociology at Brigham Young University. On May 28, 1962 he married Ann Voorhees in the Salt Lake LDS temple. For much of his young married life Kent worked as a juvenile probation officer and insurance adjustor. In 1978 he moved his family to Idaho Falls to start Thrifty Nickel Want Ads in East Idaho. In time he established publications in Boise and Billings, Montana. Kent loved to golf and had the patience to teach his wife and seven children to love the game. He also started playing the marimba when he was young and played for many church services, weddings, and parties. Church service was a large part of Kent's life. He had many opportunities to fulfill various assignments in LDS wards, stakes and temples, which he performed with humility and great diligence. Kent and Ann served LDS missions to the Georgia Atlanta Mission 1999-2000, and the Japan Nagoya Mission 2005-2007. Kent is survived by his wife, Ann, and seven children: Deidre Marlowe of South Jordan, Utah; Amy Baker (Wally) of Idaho Falls; David Marlowe (Dawn) of Idaho Falls; Cari Lee (Scott) of Cedar Hills, Utah; Tyson Marlowe (Melanie) of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mark Marlowe (Michelle) of Idaho Falls; Phillip Marlowe (Caryn) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and brothers Darold Marlowe of Orem, Utah; Roy Marlowe (Irene) of Rexburg, Idaho; sisters Marilyn Richards of Springville, Utah and Lanea Blatter (Layne) of Payson, Utah; and sister-in-law Delores Ralph of Idaho Falls.
