Obituary

L. Janeice Boge passed away on Saturday, February 13, at the Hospice Home in Idaho Falls.

Known as Nana to her family, Janeice was born on March 1, 1931, to Charly J. Vance and Anna Margaret Franklin Vance, who lived on a ranch midway between Challis and Salmon. Janeice attended the rural Ellis school along with her brother, Darwin, who was a year younger. Growing up, she spent many summers helping her father move their herd of sheep across the Salmon River, up Hat Creek, and in the fall, down Panther Creek, and back upstream to Salmon.

While Janeice was in high school, the family purchased a ranch in Challis. It was there, in 1950, that she graduated from high school and married Charlie Boge. For the next two years, she and Charlie were in college, and then it was on to Portland, Oregon, where Janeice worked while Charlie attended medical school. Over the next few years, a son, Ronald Charles, was born, Charlie received his M.D. degree, and another son, Gordon Wayne, arrived.
Following Charlie's medical internship, the U.S. Army transferred the family to San Antonio, Texas, and then Fairbanks, Alaska, where Karen Rae was born.

After the army, the family returned to Portland where Janeice worked as a receptionist and medical assistant for the Multnomah County Medical Physicians' Office and Charlie completed his surgical training.

In 1964 the family moved to Idaho Falls, where Janeice was involved in school activities, PTA, and the Idaho State Medical Society as Charlie started his medical practice. A few years later, they purchased the Challis ranch from Janeice's parents, and the family began spending time there during the summer.

After all of the children had finished high school, Janeice worked as a medical assistant, helping Charlie in his medical practice. She helped design and decorate the Idaho Falls Medical Plaza (now the Post Office building on Memorial Drive).
In the mid-1980s, Janeice took a position as the assistant medical librarian at Sacred Heart Hospital, then at the Combined Hospital library, and eventually at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Along with her library work, she enjoyed sewing, mending, and quilting. She made many baby quilts and created a wonderful series of family scrapbooks. She also volunteered with the Idaho State Medical Society and the American Medical Association's Education Research Foundation.

Janeice was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Darwin. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charlie; sons Ronald (Bets) and Gordon; and daughter Karen Browne (Richard). She leaves three grandchildren, Kelly Boge, Krista Browne Glaser (Peter), and Ryan Browne as well as a nephew, Steven Vance (Danette), and a niece, Tammy Martin (Kurt).

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff and volunteers of The Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their kind and loving care of Janeice and her family members for the past several years.

Nana left us with a wealth of family memories, and she will be missed. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .

A memorial service will be held at 1pm, on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary in Idaho Falls, with a visitation one hour prior.
