Obituary

LaMar James Rozsa, 79, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 5, 1945, to John (Jack) Revelle Rozsa Sr. and Florence Taylor Burgener Rozsa. He returned to his heavenly home on November 20, 2024, after a five-year trial with Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was an amazing man who loved God and was dedicated to his devoted wife and family. LaMar had a great sense of humor, with lots of laughter in his home and he taught his family not to sweat the small stuff. He was friendly, outgoing, and accepting of everyone. He loved to have fun, eat ice cream, and was always up to finding a good bargain. He found joy and relaxation in his hobbies. He loved antiques, especially antique clocks, and had an amazing clock collection. He was an award-winning member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Inc. (NAWCC). He also enjoyed his classic antique cars. He had the coolest Hot Rod in high school. He was a member of the Over the Hill Gang Classic Car Club, North San Diego County chapter.

His family moved to San Diego, California when he was a young boy. He attended Clairemont High School, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Gail Evans. They were high school sweethearts and married on January 16, 1963. They were married for almost 62 years. He worked for Solar Turbines, a Subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer. He retired after thirty-three years. Lamar and Barbara relocated to Utah in 2010, and then Idaho Falls in 2023 when he started to require more care.

LaMar was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America and as a teacher in young men's organization, primary, and Sunday School. He also served as the executive secretary to three Bishops and as an ordinance worker in the San Diego Temple. He found comfort in the hymn "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" and the scripture, Matthew 10:29-31.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rozsa; four daughters: Tracy (Jhan) Miller of Spring City, Utah, Robin (Perry) Schroeder of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Shannon (Burr) Calapp of Farmington, Utah, and Rachelle (Trent) Rogers of Saint George, Utah; one son, LaMar (Angie) Rozsa Jr. of San Marcos, California; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John "Jack" Revelle Rozsa Sr. and Florence Taylor Burgener; his two brothers: John Revelle Rozsa Jr. and Paul Robert Rozsa Sr.

Graveside services will be held on April 5, 2025, on his birthday, with a Celebration of Life following services at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah. His remains will be laid to rest in the Inspiration Garden.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Symbii Hospice for the wonderful care they provided LaMar and the support they showed the family.

Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
