IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larall D.
Kent
July 29, 1944 – September 17, 2017
LaRall Dawn Kent, 73, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
LaRall was born July 29, 1944, in Brigham City, Utah and was the first of 6 boys born to Norma Hill Kent and Dawn Kent.
He grew up and attended schools in Malad, Idaho. He later served a service mission in Canada for the LDS church. He went on to attend school at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. A blind date with Sherrie Lynn Wilde resulted in marriage a short 5 months later, on July 14, 1967, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union brought 4 children. Three daughters: Ylona (Loni), Cherene, and Rebecca. Their son, Trever was born July 14, 1974. His mission here on earth was short, as he was called home to our Heavenly Father the same day.
LaRall and Sherrie initially made their home in Jackson Hole, WY where they ran a Heating & Air Conditioning business. This type of work later took their family to Richmond, UT and Preston, ID and then eventually returning them to the Idaho Falls area, where they lived until the time that Sherrie Lynn was called home in 1994.
He soon found a new love when Cindy Diane Grover came into his world. They were married on April 28, 1995, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Their union completed his family by adding Cindy's three children to his clan: Kelli, Mistie and Christopher.
LaRall loved basketball. He played in high school and enjoyed playing city and church ball. He was a happy gramps when the grandkids picked up their love for the game. He was eager to teach them all that he knew. He loved watching each of them play, rarely missing a game. He had a passion for custom built everything. He learned to build custom hot rods from an early age with his dad and brothers. He later made a hobby out of building custom homes. He loved to ride snowmobiles and taught his daughters how to ride at an early age. He and Cindy enjoyed taking rides on his Harley and enjoyed traveling and experiencing new things together.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings over the years with his final calling in the Bishopric as the Executive Secretary. LaRall was known for his impeccable work ethic. He enjoyed spending his time organizing church service activities. With his love for building homes and service to his community, he was the perfect man for the job, as he headed up Habitat for Humanity projects for several years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cindy Diane Kent; daughters: Loni Henderson, Cherene (Jason) Laird, Rebecca (Jared) Williams, Kelli (Rick) Rojo, and Mistie (Rob) Wielang; son, Christopher (Tashina) Green; 16 beautiful grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Sherrie Lynn Wilde Kent; son, Trever LaRall Kent, parents: Norma and Dawn Kent; and brother, Joseph J. Kent.
Words cannot express our gratitude to the staff at Madison Carriage Cove Rehabilitation Center, in Rexburg. The extraordinary care and love given to him in his final days, will never be forgotten.
