He was born July 15, 1937, in Idaho Falls, the oldest son of Lynn F. And Phyllis Smout Brown. He was raised in the farming community of Ririe, Idaho and graduated from Ririe High School. He loved school and decided to use his talents in math to get degrees' in Electrical Engineering. He attended Ricks College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University. After years of night school, he graduated with a Master's Degree from the University of Utah.

Larry excelled in his engineering career at Sperry -Rand in Salt Lake City, Utah and later at Motorola in Scottsdale, Arizona. He returned to Idaho in 1974 to operate the family dry farm so that his father could serve a mission. During the winters, he built homes. In 1978, he established a computer sales/service business and in 2005, he retired.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Arlene Weeks, on March 31, 1954, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with 5 children. They lived in Logan, Utah; Salt Lake City, Utah; Scottsdale, Arizona; Iona and Idaho Falls.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Elders and High Priests Quorums and as a High Councilman in the Iona Stake. He especially enjoyed teaching. Larry and Ruby had just received a mission call to the Illinois Nauvoo Mission.

Larry loved country music and even learned to play the guitar and sing the songs he loved. He worked hard collecting these songs into books to share with others. He had always enjoyed traveling to see new things. Larry loved watching football and basketball games.

Larry was a humble, patient, committed, good humored man with a quick wit.
