Larry Dennis McGee, 62, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, February 15, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of cardiac arrest. He was born October 17, 1950, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the youngest of four children born to Jesslock "Jake" and Leona Blanche Bissell McGee. He grew up and attended schools in Mitchell. Larry graduated from Western Technical College in Englewood, Colorado, in May 1970, with a degree in Architectural Drafting. For a short time, he worked in the construction industry. He soon found that his true calling was in the food industry. He was a manager of several restaurants including Shakey's Pizza, Prime Cut, and Rax. In 1997, he began working at Albertson's in Idaho Falls. In October 2012, he was forced to retire due to his declining health. In 1971, Larry married Marlys Tweet. Together they had a daughter, Nicole, and a son, Scott. They later divorced. On May 18, 1991, he married the love of his life, Susan Poole. They welcomed a daughter, Amanda, and a son, Caden, to their home. Larry loved football and baseball. He was a die-hard Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He enjoyed going swimming, camping, and going to the family cabin in Island Park. Larry spent many years coaching and watching Caden play sports. They loved this special time together. Larry is survived by the following: wife, Susan of Idaho Falls; daughters: Nicole (Mike) Clark of Omaha, Nebraska, and Amanda McGee of Idaho Falls; sons: Scott McGee of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Caden McGee of Idaho Falls; 3 grandchildren: Marissa, Zachary, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delbert McGee; and 2 sisters, Betty Arens and Jeannette Anderson. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, with Bishop John Hendrix officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, and Thursday one hour prior to the services both at the mortuary.
