Larry Wayne Olsen, 73, of Idaho Falls, died January 10, 2010, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. He was born September 4, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Harold Olsen and Victoria I. Anderson Olsen. He grew up and attended school in Idaho Falls and in 1955, he graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Brigham Young University in Provo. He took additional classes to become a teacher. He married Barbara Anderson and they were later divorced. On June 16, 1981, he married Leanne Sharp in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He lived and taught school in Nevada, in Cassia and Twin Falls counties and Terreton, Idaho. Due to health problems, he was forced to retire from teaching. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was involved for many years in the Extraction program and later known as Indexing. He indexed thousands of names. He enjoyed working on the computer and traveling, especially to see his cousins in Sweden. He had a sense of humor and especially liked a good joke. He is survived by the following: wife, Leanne Olsen of Idaho Falls; daughters: Catherine Diane (Jerry) Plake of Magna, Utah, and Shauna Lynn Olsen of Huntington Beach, California; sons: David Harold (Lisa) Olsen of Logan, Utah and William "Bill" Russell Olsen of Kanosh, Utah; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Olsen; an infant sister, and an infant son. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Ammon LDS 3rd Ward with Bishop Sid Beattie officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls and Saturday one hour prior to the services.
