Lavar Leroy "Lee" Hudson, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, at his home. He was born September 9, 1932, at St. Ignatius, Montana, to Floyd Edgar Hudson and Naida Pierce Hudson. Lee grew up in St. Ignatius and attended schools there. In 1950, he graduated from Mission High School. He attended San Diego City College. He served in the U.S. Navy. On June 8, 1956, he married Phyllis Joan Ryder in El Cajon, California. They lived in San Diego for a number of years before moving to Idaho Falls in 1967. Lee worked as an electrician at Argonne National Laboratory. He retired from there in January 1993. He worked as a bus driver for school district #93 for several years and most recently as a driver for Hertz. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in the Bishopric, as a Scout Master, Webelos Leader, High Priest Group leader and a temple worker. Lee enjoyed bowling, roller skating, 4-wheeling, hunting, fishing and hiking and being with his grandchildren. He is survived by the following: wife, Phyllis Hudson of Idaho Falls; daughters: Lori (Don) Duncan, Kristi (Randy) Richardson, and Dani (Ryan) Kohler all of Idaho Falls; a son, Tim Hudson of Salt Lake City; sisters: Laida Papenfuss of Newdale, Idaho; Caroline Dreher and Elna Winstead both of Albany, Oregon; and Valiera (Bob) James of Monroe, Utah; a brother, Ed (Mona) Hudson of Aumsville, Oregon; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a brother, Carl, and a daughter, Kelli Sue. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Kearney LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 1860 Kearney, with Bishop Frank Plain officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the services.
