Obituary

Lelah Elizabeth Wilcox, 83, of Idaho Falls, died March 31, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 20, 1925, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Lyman Hemmert and Phoebe Ann Lewis Hemmert. She grew up in Idaho Falls. She was 15 years old when she moved to Pingree following the death of her father and she helped her mother at the Pingree Merc. She graduated from Thomas High School. She attended Idaho State Vocational school where she learned office training skills.

On March 6, 1944, she married Lynn Lafayette Mecham in Dillon, Montana. They later divorced. She married Wayne Earl Wilcox and he died in 1991. In 1993, she married Lynn Reiman and they later divorced.

Following her husbands return from World War II, they homesteaded in Hunt, Idaho, until 1961 on the Minidoka Development Projects. They moved to American Falls where she worked for Lamb Weston until 1966. She worked in office and personnel work at Montgomery Ward, Anderson Lumber Company, State of Idaho in Twin Falls and Boise, and Idaho State University.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Primary, Sunday School and the M.I.A. She served two missions to England in 1988 and 1993. She served as a temple worker in the mid 1980's and she was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She enjoyed oil painting, home decorating, gardening, canning, cooking, and handiwork. Lelah was always generous in support of her children's needs throughout her life.

She is survived by the following: son, Earl Ervin (Lynne) Mecham of Woodstock, Georgia; daughters: Jerilynn Mecham-Harris and Cheryl Ann (Eugene) Martin both of Pocatello; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Harris in 2002; and 4 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Idaho Falls LDS Second Ward Chapel, 885 S. Boulevard, with Dave Greenhalgh officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery.
