Lena H. Leinweber, 92, of Highland, Utah, and formerly of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Ashford Memory Care in Highland. Brighton Hospice Care assisted the family with her care. She was born January 4, 1921, in Haden, Teton County, Idaho, to Alma Henry Rammell and Lenora Little Rammell. She grew up in Teton Basin. She was educated through the 8th grade and the "School of Hard Knocks". Lena moved to Idaho Falls where she lived with her sister and became a caregiver for Lars and Laura Hanson. On January 24, 1938, she married Ray Frank Hanson in Idaho Falls. They lived in Shelley before returning to Idaho Falls where they lived on the Hanson Homestead on the corner of 45th East (Crowley Road) and First St. In 1989, this homestead which was established in 1889, became designated as an Idaho Century Farm having been lived in by the same family for 100 years. This was Lena's home for 63 years before she moved to Utah to be closer to family. After Ray's passing, Lena worked in many spud houses, cleaned, painted and wallpapered many homes in the Idaho Falls area. She worked for Utah and Idaho (U&I) Sugar Company and it was here that she met Albert Leinweber. They were married on February 3, 1951. She was a volunteer in many local blood drives and for many years served as an election volunteer in her voting precinct. Lena was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many positions and always giving compassionate service. She enjoyed many years serving in the ward library and the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She provided service to family, friends, neighbors and strangers with love, and a loaf of bread, a plate of food and even a bowl of her popular homemade custard for those under the weather. Mom, thank you for sharing your special gift and example of loving and serving others unconditionally, a gift we can all seek for. Lena is survived by 2 sons: Albert (Karen) Leinweber Jr. of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Wendell (Clement) Leinweber of Gladstone, Missouri; a daughter, Nancy (Eric) Melander of Salem, Utah; a step-daughter, Carlene (Doug) Hadley of Idaho Falls, and a step-son, Don Leinweber of Dayton, Ohio; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
