Obituary

Leslie "Dolly" Skinner McCoy Benson, 95, of Ammon, passed away February 24, 2014 at The Gables Assisted Living. She was under the care of her daughter, Becky Kelly-Parr, and Aspen Home Health and Hospice. She was born December 29, 1918, in Soda Springs, Idaho, one of 12 children born to William G. Skinner and Luella Rebecca Hill Skinner. Dolly grew up in Conda, Idaho and attended high school in Soda Springs. On November 4, 1943, she married Raymond J. McCoy. They lived and raised their three daughters: Becky, Laura, and Joyce in Conda. He passed away in 1968. In 1972, Dolly married Franklin Ross Benson and they moved to Alhambra, California. In 1974, they moved to Burley, Idaho, where she continued to live following Ross's death in 1988. In 2011, she moved to Idaho Falls to live with her daughter, Becky. She moved into The Gables in 2013 where she resided until her passing. Dolly was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She received her endowments in the Twin Falls LDS Temple in May 2009 and was sealed to Raymond J. McCoy. She enjoyed bowling, playing pool, gardening and making her yard beautiful. Dolly is survived by the following: Daughters: Becky Kelly-Parr (Reed) of Idaho Falls; Laura Benson (Jim) of Eagle, Idaho; and Joyce Ostermiller (Brent) of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, of whom she thought the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Sims Funeral Home, 139 E. 2nd S. in Soda Springs, Idaho. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho.
