He was born September 16, 1933 in Jamestown, NY to Ernest Monroe and Hattie Mae Eggleston. He grew up in Panama, New York.
He was married on October 10, 1952 to Priscilla Ruth Douglas. They were later divorced.
He lived in Western New York where he worked as a conservation officer for the State of New York Forest Service until 1978 when he moved to Modesto, California where he started panning for gold. In 1996 he moved to Tucson, Arizona as he started retirement living. In 1998 he moved to Idaho Falls to be closer to his sons.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gold panning, and recycling. He loved the outdoors, and the preservation of the environment.
He is survived by his sons; Donald L. Eggleston (Donna) of Idaho Falls, and Rock Gene Eggleston (Michelle) of Idaho Falls; his daughter, Debra Lynn Johnson (Greg) of Advance, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sally, and his son Scott, his brother Ernest, his sister Lavina, and his parents Ernest and Hattie.
