Vera Lettie Hill Madsen Anderson, 87, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, September 4, 2017, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Lettie was born on February 16, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Robert Painter and Hazel Manila Thomason Hill. She was the only child of eight children born in a hospital. She grew up in Thornton, Idaho. She graduated from Madison High School in 1948.
On August 25, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she married Gayle Gilbert Madsen. Gayle passed away on May 24, 1980. They lived in many places including Thornton, Idaho, Denver, Colorado, Little Rock, Arkansas, Pasco, Washington, Ponce, Puerto Rico and Idaho Falls, Idaho. On June 2, 1988, she married Homer Lee Anderson. Homer passed away on November 28, 2008. They resided in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Lettie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed bowling, most outdoor activities, BYU football games, collecting sea shells and traveling around the United States. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and many city and state bowling organizations.
She is survived by her children: Bonnie (Lance) Hendricks, of Billings, Montana, Marilyn Madsen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Rock (Kim) Madsen, of Boise, Idaho and Peggy (Shane) Bush, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; stepdaughters: Barbara Griggs, of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Janet (Steve) Wolf, of Soda Springs, Idaho; her sisters: Jean Young, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Leona (Ron) Ferrara, of Warwick, Rhode Island; brother-in-law, Kay (Mildred) Madsen, of Kearns, Utah; 27 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Painter Hill and Hazel Manila Thomason Hill; her husband, Gayle Gilbert Madsen; her mother and father-in-law, Arnel Delroy Madsen and Sarah Weaver Madsen Hulse; husband, Homer Lee Anderson; siblings: Clea Freeman, Donald Hill, Ariel Hill, Ralph Hill, Sarah Marie Cox Cooper; brother-in-law, Lance (Joy) Madsen; sister-in-law, Wilma Joy (Marion) Pence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
