Lily M. Sheen, beloved mother, wife, sister, and grandmother died August 25, 2011, at her granddaughter's home in Meridian, ID after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on February 27th, 1925 in Salt Lake City, UT, the first child of Alexander and Hilma Widlund. She grew up in the avenues and graduated from West High School. She later graduated from LDS Business College. She served as a secretary in the army during World War II. Always proud of her country, she said she got a lump in her throat when she saw the flag go by. She married Earl Junior Sheen on June 11, 1948. She said he had quite the charm to catch her. They were later sealed in the LDS temple in Idaho Falls. They moved to Seattle, while Earl was still in the army. They lived in Cedar City for a time and then moved back to Salt Lake City. By this time they had their 2 oldest sons, Michael and Chuck. They moved to Idaho Falls where Earl "Jay", Kristine and Kevin were born. She always told us "your dad wanted to have a dozen kids, but by the time we had you five we knew that was enough." Lily loved to dance. She and Earl square danced many years with the Promenaders. They bowled on leagues for many years. She supported a lot of activities that Earl and the kids liked, sports, fishing, and gardening. Her passions were crafts, afghans, quilts, porcelain dolls, and of course holding various church jobs for over 65 years. She loved attending things that her kids and grandkids were performing in. She cooked a million meals and halfa million chocolate chip cookies and brownies. Survivors include her brother, George Widlund, St George, UT; her five children, Dr. Michael Ray (wife Tory), Wichita Falls, Texas, Charles Gregory (wife Konnie), Phoenix, Arizona, E. Jay, Salt Lake City, Utah, Kris Simpson, Boise, Idaho, and Kevin James (wife Paula) Cranberry, Pennsylvania; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Harriet, and granddaughter Jessica. Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday August 29, 2011 at the LDS church 885 S. Blvd. Idaho Falls with Bishop Hal Peterson officiating. The family will meet with friends from 6-8pm Sunday August 28th at Coltrin Colonial Mortuary 2100 First St. Idaho Falls and also an hour prior to the services, Monday, at the church. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Park.
