Heyrend
February 21, 1930 – May 27, 2007
Lloyd Alfred Heyrend, 77, of Idaho Falls, died May 27, 2007, at his home from a lingering illness.
He was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Clark, Idaho, the son of Alfred and Ora Jenkins Heyrend. He grew up in Clark and spent a lot of time at his grandparent's home. While attending Idaho Falls High School, he met Fay Bateman and they became high school sweethearts. After his graduation in l949, they were married on July 10, 1951 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized June 23, 1965 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He worked at Earl's Food Liner as a meat cutter for 15 years. Then he went into the construction business with his brother-in-law, Elvey Bateman and formed Bateman-Heyrend Construction. After a few years, he formed his own company, Heyrend Construction, and built and remodeled homes until his retirement in 2002.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a counselor in the bishopric, Sunday School president, and Stake Sunday School and High Counselor.
He was very positive and had a wonderful sense of humor. He always loved to tell a good joke. He was a man of many interests, and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting with his family and was an excellent marksman and teacher. He hunted elk with either bow or a rifle. He also enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, snowmobiling, and horses. He was a gifted craftsman from high school throughout his life. He built many pieces of fine furniture, and then went on to build beautiful homes. He was a perfectionist in this and took great pride in making sure everything was just right. His building accomplishments were once featured in a magazine.
He bought one of the first four-wheel drive vehicles in the area and enjoyed helping people and taking them for rides in it.
He was a wonderful father and grandfather. Children, especially his grandchildren, were so important to him and they all adored him. He built many doll houses, toys, and cupboards for them. Everyone loved him; he always made everyone feel like "somebody". It was said that if he had a million dollars, everyone had a million dollars as he was so generous and giving.
