Obituary

Lloyd Jensen, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Lincoln Court Retirement Center. He was under the care of Symbii Hospice.

Lloyd was born August 18,1936, to Willard and Edna Fackrell Jensen in Blackfoot, Idaho. He grew up in Blackfoot and attended Blackfoot High School, graduating in 1954.

He furthered his education at the University of Michigan, receiving his Ph.D. in Political Science. After receiving his Ph.D., he taught at the University of Illinois, Northwestern University, and the University of Kentucky. In 1978, he became a full professor of Political Science at Temple University. He was also a professional lecturer at the School of Advanced International Studies at John Hopkins University. His research and publications focused on foreign policy, bargaining behavior, and national security. He was the editor of Foreign Affairs and other academic journals throughout his career.

Lloyd married Jane Sayre on August 31, 1963, in Champaign, Illinois. They enjoyed travelling and visited numerous European countries and India. He also enjoyed art collecting, visiting museums, and sculpture gardens, concerts, and Broadway plays. He enjoyed running, hiking, and swimming.

Lloyd was passionate about education and encouraged his nieces, nephews, and his students to pursue and excel in higher education. He was generous and had a gentle, kind soul.

He is survived by his brother, Jay Jensen, of Idaho Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; his parents; siblings: Gene Jensen, Boyd Jensen, Beverly Whitmill, and Eldon Jensen.

At his request no services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary 2100 1 st St. Idaho Falls.
