Obituary

Our loving mother, Loa Beth Gilchrist McLane, 90, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on Neil Gilchrist's homestead ranch in a locally-fired, clay pioneer home on January 7, 1924, near Lewisville, Idaho, to Samuel Gilchrist and Amanda Vernita Dixon. She was their only child. She went to school and worked in Rigby and Rexburg, Idaho. Loa was married to Angus Charles McLane on May 18, 1956, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They started married life in Palisades, Idaho, and moved to Salem, Oregon, and lived there until they retired in 1973. They were the parents of three children: Loa Aline, Lynda Beth, and Roger Angus. From the time she was very young Loa loved to draw, paint, embroider, sew, quilt, knit, and crochet. She shared her homemaking skills of baking bread, pies, and cookies. She and Angus canned and froze all they grew in the family garden. They had 4 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons, all residing in Utah. Loa was preceded in death by her husband and son, and is survived by her two daughters: Loa Aline Hathcock and Lynda Beth McLane Walker. The memorial service will be held at Coltrin Mortuary at 2100 1st Street in Idaho Falls on Tuesday, January 6, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Internment will be in Fielding Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com
