Obituary

Lois Ann Curtis Bean, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on December 28, 2014 in Idaho Falls, Idaho with her children by her side. As she had expressed to her children, it was her desire to be with her Heavenly Parents. Lois was born in Victor, Idaho on November 19, 1930. She was the second of four children born to Orvel and Louise Kunz Curtis. At the age of four, her family moved to the Jameston area south of Idaho Falls. Her mother and father were hard-working and industrious farmers. Lois attended Stanton School and graduated from Shelley High School. Later, Lois attended Ricks College and BYU. She also worked for Dr. P. Blair Ellsworth for several years. While in high school, Lois developed many friendships. One particular friendship that stood out was with Ralph Bean. Their relationship blossomed, and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 4, 1952. Lois was a devoted wife and mother throughout her life. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities in the Church and community. She especially enjoyed teaching the Primary children. For all who knew Lois, she was a blessing in their lives with the service and love she provided. In 1956, Lois and Ralph moved to Monteview, Idaho, where they established a successful farming enterprise out of the undeveloped desert. All seven children were raised in Monteview. In 1990, when Lois and Ralph turned 60, they moved to Lemhi, Idaho to begin a new ranching business at Basin Creek. They established new friendships and served many people in the area. In 2005, Ralph died in a ranch accident. Lois moved to Idaho Falls in 2007 where she spent the rest of her life with family and friends. Lois enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, embroidery, friends, family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lois leaves behind her seven children: Jan (Keith) Walker of St. Anthony, Idaho; Terri (Cordell) Finlinson of Layton, Utah; Chyrell (Michael) Jackson of Riverton, Utah; David (Jeanine) Bean of Turlock, California; Barbara (Brett) Wright of Idaho Falls; Laird (Diane) Bean of Blackfoot, Idaho; and Von (Debra) Bean of Lemhi, Idaho. Lois is also survived by her older sister, Vera (Boyd) Goodrich of Springville, Utah; her younger sister, Verna (Mark) Olsen of Idaho Falls, and a brother, Vern (Phyllis) Curtis of St. George, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the corner of Sunnyside and Holmes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 2 at Coltrin Funeral Home, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Cemetery following the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Missionary or Humanitarian Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at www.ldsphilanthropies.org or through your local ward.
