Obituary
Lois Catherine Rigby, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 10, 2016, at her home.
Lois was born on May 8, 1933, to Jesse and Helen Gisler. She moved to Idaho Falls in 1948 from American Falls, Idaho, with her parents. Her father was transferred from American Falls to Idaho Falls as manager to the Idaho State Employment office.
Lois graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1951 and graduated from Idaho State University in 1955 with a degree in education, home economics and Dietician.
Lois was married on August 18, 1956 to Sterling Henry Rigby, who was teaching Chemistry at Idaho Falls High School. Lois and Henry met on a blind date, which was arranged by Lois' sister, Phyllis Stalker, who was a chemistry student in Henry's class.
Lois was very active in Trinity Methodist Church. She was honored as the woman of the year in her Sorority and was President in American Associate of University Women for two years.
She enjoyed her home and hobbies which were painting, ceramics and stained glass. She owned and operated the stain glass business in her home called "The Glass Works." Every window in her home was designed and cut by Lois. Other hobbies included collecting Teddy Bears and plated from all over the world. Lois also enjoyed cooking and entertaining. After Henry retired, they did a great deal of traveling to 28 different countries. Lois was a great lover of cats, which of most where rescued from the Humane Society.
Lois is survived by her husband Henry; daughter, Debbie Miller of Phoenix, Arizona; son, David Rigby, who resides in Idaho Falls as caregiver for Lois and Henry; and 4 grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Stalker; and two cousins: Betty Jean Johnson and Sue Vanorman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 2p.m. to celebrate Lois's life at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 N. Water Ave. with Rev. Ruth Marsh officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bonneville Humane Society 444 N. Eastern Ave. Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
