Lonnie (Butch) Hodges Jr, 69, of Shelley, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born to Wanda and Lonnie Hodges Sr. on January 29, 1950, in Delta, Missouri. Butch grew up in Delta Missouri, where he enjoyed fishing and playing High School basketball. Butch had 2 brothers, Charles and Ronnie, and 2 sisters, Sharon and Diane.
Butch enlisted in the Navy, where he worked as a "Nuke" on the Nuclear Submarines. The Navy led him to Nuclear school in Idaho Falls, where he met the love of his life, LuAnn Wray. LuAnn introduced Butch to the LDS church, and he was soon Baptized. Butch and LuAnn were married on February 5, 1972, and were Sealed together with their oldest daughter Angela in the Oakland, Ca Temple on April 6, 1973.
When Butch was finished in the Navy, he and LuAnn, and their 2 daughters, Angela and Jenny, moved back to Idaho Falls. Butch and LuAnn would go on to have 2 more children, Jessica and Jim. Butch went to work for Upper Valley Telecable, which eventually became CableOne. Butch held many positions there until he retired in May of 2015.
Butch's greatest love in life was his wife LuAnn, his children, grandchildren, and his wiener dog Maggie. Butch loved to spend time with his family, telling stories, and teasing everyone. Butch loved people, and always enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and many others that he came in contact with.
Butch held many positions in the church, Ward Clerk, Stake Finance Auditor, Executive secretary, Sunday School President, and his favorite calling. Teaching the 4-year-olds in Primary with LuAnn. He also enjoyed the many years of Home Teaching with his companion Alan Cannon.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, LuAnn Wray Hodges, his 4 children: Angela (Leonard) Steving, Jenny (Johnson) Amelewu, Jessica (Brandon) Ramirez, and Jim (Desir) Hodges. Butch had 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Wanda and Lonnie Hodges Sr, his 2 brothers, Charles and Ronnie, and 2 sisters Diane and Sharon. He was also preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren, Deklan and Kyler.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Shelley 10 th Ward Building, 1555 North 700 East, Shelley with Bishop Brian Bush officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
