Lorali Lee Hammett Strander, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Life Care Center.
She was born in Modesto, California on May 28, 1952, to Cranford and Althea (Adams) Hammett. Lorali spent her youth in Modesto, California. She was very close to her father Cran and followed him whenever she could. He shared with her his love of horses. They enjoyed going to stock auctions together where he won the bid on her first horse. Lorali was an excellent rider and won horsemanship events in the Rodeo Queen Contest at the Stanislaus County Rodeo.
Lorali met and married Tink Tuller and they had a beautiful daughter, Rhiannon. After Tink's death, Lorali moved to Pocatello, Idaho along with her daughter and parents. She attended Idaho State University and earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree which she was very proud of. She worked at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in the maternity ward. She stated that one of the most fun duties was helping to catch babies as they were first born and teaching new mothers how to nurse. After a few years, she went into nursing homes and loved taking care of elderly patients. Many said she was a very compassionate nurse. She was a nurse for 20 years.
Lorali taught herself how to crochet and would make baby afghans to give to family and friends
Lorali met and married the love of her life, Gary Strander. They bought a home with acreage in Shelly, Idaho. Lorali and Gary loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping together. They shared a love of animals, especially their dogs. Lorali was known for having a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. She completed difficult crossword puzzles in ink and enjoyed playing card games. Lorali was known for making the best carrot cake from scratch which came from her mother's recipe. She loved spending time with her family.
Lorali leaves behind her loving husband, Gary, and her daughter, Rhiannon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The nurses that took care of Lorali mentioned she was a wonderful patient with a great sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the nurses for their care and compassion.
At her request no services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
