Lorene Christina "Rene" Rhodes, 89, of Idaho Falls, died June 14, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 18, 1920, in American Falls, Idaho, the fourth of five children born to Henry V. Peterson and Beatrice West Peterson. She grew up in American Falls and attended high school in Idaho Falls.
In 1938, Lorene married Richard Curtis in Idaho Falls. They leased and worked her folks' farm until April 1950 when Richard, two of their three children and Richard's mother, Fannie Curtis were killed in an automobile accident. Lorene continued to manage the farm with the help of Paul Curtis and Lorene's father, Henry.
On Sept. 11, 1952, she married Blaine Rhodes in Idaho Falls.
She served as the Secretary of the Idaho Wheat Growers and was active in the PTA while her children were in school.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and playing bridge with her friends.
She is survived by the following:sons: Kent (Carolyn) Curtis and Steven B. (Tami) Rhodes both of Idaho Falls; step-daughter, Deanne (David, deceased) Williams of Orem, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, children: Christina and Rodney; a brother and 3 sisters.
Graveside services will at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
