Obituary

Madge "Lorraine" Shortt, 90, of Idaho Falls, and formerly of Pocatello, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Mt. Vernon Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Solace Hospice. She was born May 19, 1924, in Pocatello, to Tracy Pugmire and Mary Thelma Stones Pugmire. She grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1942. She married Ralph Moore on July 9, 1947, in Pocatello. They were later divorced. She married Rohr P. Shortt on December 20, 1957. They were later divorced. After graduation from high school, Lorraine supported the war effort and moved to Long Beach, California, where she bucked rivets inside the wing room. She worked for American Optical for 30 years and then Reed Optical for 15 before she retired at age 68. Lorraine moved to Idaho Falls in 2009 to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lorraine loved going to the gym, Fitness Inc., in Pocatello where she had many good friends. The family would like to thank Solace Hospice for their kind support. She is survived by the following: daughter, Linda (John) Reschert, of Holtville, California daughter, Vicki (Ed) Jenkins, of Blackfoot son, David (Trish) Moore, of Blackfoot son, James Shortt of Idaho Falls sister, Joanne (Burton) Kelly, of Orem, Utah 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren Lorraine was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Thelma Barfuss, and her step-father, Raymond Barfuss. Private family services will be held at a later date. Lorraines ashes will be buried next to her mother in Logan, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Club, Idaho-Eastern Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation 1090 N. Cole Rd, Boise, ID 83704, for their support of people with eyecare needs.
