Obituary

Louis "Louie" A. Osuna, 78, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away November 15, 2014, at Parkwood Meadows. He was under the care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice. He was born December 24, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in Lone Pine, California, by his mother, Lupe Cardoza. He graduated from Lone Pine High School in 1954. He attended Mt. San Antonio College in 1955 and 1956 and Idaho State University in 1957, 1958 and 1962. In November 1958, he married Elaine Heuer in St. John's Lutheran Church. They were later divorced. Louis was employed by Cole National Consumer Products and later in life he worked at the Apple Athletic Club. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Louis was a very athletic person who loved participating in sports especially the Huntsman World Senior Olympic games, where he won over 1000 medals. He had a love of animals, especially his Bichon Frise, Bailey and his cat, Sugar. He loved the outdoors and fishing. Everyone will remember Louis for his great sense of humor. He is survived by the following: Son, Brent (Brenda) Osuna of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Michelle Summers of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brothers: William (Bonnie) Osuna of Murietta, California, and Felix (Terri) Osuna of Anaheim Hills, California; grandsons: Aaron (Jessica) Osuna and Lucas Osuna both of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Zakary Summers of Idaho Falls; and his girlfriend, Shirley Copeland of Idaho Falls, and her children Mike (Gretchen) Copeland of Tri City's, Washington, Leslie (Mike) Patrick of College Station, Texas, and Kirk (Lisa) Copeland of Boise, Idaho. Louis was preceded in death by his mother, Lupe; his grandmother, Julia Galindo and a brother, Arnold Osuna. The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Parkwood Meadows and Encompass Health and Hospice for their kindness and attentive care of Louis. Brent wishes to express his gratitude to his sister, Michelle, for her tender and loving care of Dad in his final week and days. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Pastor Barnes of Hope Lutheran Church officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
