Obituary

Louisa Hillman Hallstrom, 94, a former resident of Rexburg, died April 3, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born January 12, 1914, to Hazel Lucas and Russell Hillman in Plano, Idaho, the third of seven children. She graduated from Ricks Academy in 1933. Her childhood was spent in Kilgore, Idaho.

She married Harold Hallstrom November 11, 1933, in Pocatello, Idaho. He died March 26, 1984. To support the World War II effort, they moved to San Diego, CA in 1942, to work at Consolidated Vultec Corp. building airplanes. In 1945, they moved back to Rexburg, ID, where she lived until retirement. She loved the outdoors. For many years, she and Harold hunted deer, elk, and antelope. She loved to fish and spent almost every weekend in Island Park or the surrounding area.

Lou retired when the Teton Dam burst and destroyed their house. She spent 25 years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ and summering in Plano.

Her vegetable gardens were huge and generously shared with family and friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she spoiled them whenever she could. When the great grandchildren came along she was equally proud.

She is survived by her son Ted, his wife Narda; 2 grandchildren, Todd (Trisha) Hallstrom and Krista (Chris) Clift; 4 great grandchildren, Jackson, Hunter, Alexander and Kennedy and 2 sisters Maxine (Karl) Barber & Denece (Boyd) Hughes of Idaho Falls, ID. A graveside service will be held April 11, 2008, at 11:00 am at Fielding Memorial Cemetery, South Highway, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
