Obituary

Luana "Lu" Claire Hyde Mecham, 82, of Ammon, died August 3, 2009, of injuries sustained in a automobile accident.

She was born April 27, 1927, in Logan, Utah, to William Hyde Jr. and Claire Martineau Hyde. She grew up on a farm in Blue Creek, Utah, as well as Logan. She attended Logan High School and graduated in 1944. She attended Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University) where she majored in Secretarial Science.

On July 27, 1949, she married Lloyd Andersen Mecham in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.

She worked as a secretary for Dr. O.W. Israelson, in Logan; Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA; and as a office manager in her husband's dental office, Dr. Lloyd A. Mecham in Idaho Falls, ID. She lived for 50 years in the Idaho Falls area. For 20 years, she and Lloyd enjoyed spending winters in San Carlos, Mexico.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in the auxiliaries of the church, especially the Relief Society, and as a worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Lu was a member of the Friends Forever Club and an active member and 1st Vice Captain of the E-DAH-HO camp, Bonneville Company of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She loved crossword puzzles, crafts and sewing; but her greatest passion was for her family, her children and grandchildren.

Lu was active, independent, and engaged with life and loved ones and lived in the home she loved.

She is survived by the following: daughters: Anne (Ray Oman) Gregerson of Provo, UT; Kathy (Todd) Coumerilh and Patricia (John) Keating of Boise both of Boise, ID; Laurie (Ann) Mecham-Hamilton of Portland, OR; Mary (Henery) Dannehl of Shelley, ID; Sue Ryerson of Sacramento, CA; Jill (Greg) Nebeker of Ammon, ID; and a son, Bert (Sandy) Mecham of Browns Valley, CA; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, on Feb. 8, 2003; a sister, Nola Hyde; and a brother, Robert Peeples.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Ammon 17th/22nd LDS Ward Chapel at 2200 S. Stafford Dr. with Bishop Jeff Hoover of the Ammon 12th Ward conducting. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
