Lucy James, 16, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Lucy James was born on November 27, 2007, to Brandon and Christeen James in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She spent her first few years in Blackfoot and then in Ucon for a short time before finally settling into her home on the west side of Idaho Falls in the New Sweden area. Lucy's name was actually Taylor, but only family and those who wanted to tease her called her this. Lucy's love in life was the sport of rodeo and being anywhere but inside. She enjoyed breakaway roping more than any event and her family thought she may have a bright future as a professional breakaway roper. She was also good at goat tying and team roping.

Lucy lived her life to the fullest every day. She never took a sunset for granted or a sunrise, if she made it up in time to see one. Lucy had a smile and a twinkle in her eye, which was an avenue for God's love to enter this world. Lucy knew God's love well and let Him use her to impact others in this world. Her bright light will be missed. She managed to squeeze 80 years of living into 16 years.

She is survived by her father and mother: Brandon and Christeen James; two brothers: Wyatt and Waylon James; her grandparents: Daryle and Jan James and Clairice and David Michael; her great-grandmother, Carolyn House; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dennis Mechling.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., September 6, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2020 S. Charlotte Dr., Idaho Falls. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., September 5, 2024, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at New Sweden Cemetery.
