Obituary

"Handsome Hansen", Father, Grandfather and Friend, M. DeLynn Hansen, left this mortal experience on November 6, 2019, in Idaho Falls, under the watchful and tender care of Hospice Angels Brenda and Cindy. DeLynn was born on July 16, 1933, in St. Anthony, ID the first child of Merlin J. and Gladys Powell Hansen. He had one younger brother, Boyd, who survives him. He grew up working on his father's ranch where he learned to work hard and have pride in a job well-done. He grew up in Fremont County and attended schools there graduating from South Fremont High, participated in Pep Band and was a very good student. He was blessed with many good friends. He continued his education at Ricks College and then at Utah State University, eventually receiving Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He met his eternal sweetheart, Beverly Dye, through a mutual friend and after a short courtship they both knew they didn't want to be apart, so they married June 9, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple and life truly began for them both. They traveled life's journey together for 66 years before Mom's passing in May of this year. We are grateful their separation was of a short duration.

Dad has always been a loving and devoted husband and father.  Each of his three and a half-dozen (9) children made up of 5 daughters and 4 sons have had a special place in his heart.  Many times he took over their chores so they could do their studies or participate in special activities that interested them. This definitely endeared him to them. He also thrived on each and every grandchild (20) and great-grandchild (23). He is a gentle giant with the biggest heart, who wants everyone to achieve their highest potential in life and would do his best to motivate and provide opportunities for everyone to do just that.

Dad provided hours of service to his family, his friends, his neighbors, and the community; sometimes that was taking in neighbors/ward members who needed warm shelter for the night or rides to appointments or getting medical care for those who were in need. He lived to have something meaningful to contribute to each and every day.

Dad built their home in Ammon and raised his family there. He was a skilled craftsman and took pride in things being built and maintained to last. After being diagnosed with congestive heart failure and being told his heart had stiffened—he jokingly referred to himself as "hard-hearted," but we all KNOW that was the total

opposite of the state of his heart! He was the biggest softie, almost to a fault, as he didn't want to disappoint or have to tell someone "No".

We celebrate his life, in all its SPECTACULAR aspects and will live with hope for the day we are all reunited with Him!

DeLynn is survived by his brother, Boyd(Virginia)Hansen; his brother-in-law, Lyman(Carol)Dye, many nieces and nephews; his children-Debbie(Chris)Robbins, Brad Hansen, Cheryl(Joe)Gellings, DeAnne(Bob)Rix, deceased, David Hansen, Karen(Gerard)Doornbos, Brent(Anna)Hansen, Eric Hansen, Susan(Gary)Drouin;

His grandchildren: Heather, Shelly, Alicia, Ryan, Todd, Whitney, Kevin, Stephanie, Jim, Jake, Dalon, Jackson, Logan, Dustin, Chelsie, Steven, Nathan, Anneke, Amanda; His great-grandchildren: Alahna, Hayden, Delainee, William, Clara, Elliott, Brilei, Newel, Vivian, Scout, Zavery, Kamden, Karter, Cason, Sollivan, Calyn, Luna, Emerson, Cora, Levi, Evelyn, Ramona, Westyn, Jonas . . .'2020 additions.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, his daughter DeAnne, his grandson Scottie and many family and friends he missed so much.

Safe Journey until we meet again! Love, Your Family
