Obituary

Madell Warf Latimer Waetzig, 86 of Challis, Idaho, died December 25, 2007 in Idaho Falls at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1921, in American Falls, Idaho to Lee and Sylvia Warf. She was the oldest of six children. She lived in American Falls for ten years before the family moved to the Pahsimeroi Valley, near Challis, Idaho, where they ranched and farmed. She rode horseback to the May, Idaho grade school and later attended Challis High School until she was a sophomore. She and her family then moved to the Boise area where she graduated from Star High School in 1939.

She was married to Jap Latimer in 1939. They then moved back to the Pahsimeroi Valley to ranch and farm. Jap passed away in 1971. She later married William (Bill) Waetzig in 1975 and resided jn Challis until 1984 when they moved to Washington, Utah. They spent many happy years in Southern Utah until moving back to Challis in February of 2007. They have resided in the Challis Assisted Living Center up until her death. Bill still resides there.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Madell enjoyed raising her beautiful gardens and yards, playing the piano, and was a great dancer. She was a self-taught piano player, who played by ear for many dances until the early hours of the morning. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. We feel it a privilege to have been a part of her life, and love her very much. She will be greatly missed.

Madell is survived by her husband Bill Waetzig of Challis; 3 sons, Emerson (Kathleen) Latimer of Ellis, Idaho, Bob (Linda) Latimer of Bountiful, Utah, and Dan (Cindy) Latimer of Longmont, Colorado; a daughter, Sylvia Marlowe of Idaho Falls; 2 sisters, Nadene Callister of Pocatello, and Lawanna Cummings of Preston, Idaho; and 3 sisters-in-law, Bobbie Warf of Texas, June Warf of Washington, Utah, and Norma Warf of Boise; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jap Latimer, her brothers Lee Warf of Texas, Darl of Washington; and LaMoyne of Boise.

Private Family services will be held at later date. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com
