IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcia Lyn
Stears
January 29, 1951 – August 24, 2018
Marcia Lyn Barnes Stears, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully and returned to her Father in Heaven on Friday, August 24, 2018, at her home from Cancer. She was under the care of One Source Hospice.
Marcia was born in Moscow, Idaho on January 29, 1951, to William P. Barnes and Lola Gene Passey. She grew up in Arco, Idaho where her father worked as an engineer for the Atomic Energy Commission site. She was joined by three younger brothers, two of which were identical twins. She was a great help to her, at times, overwhelmed mother and the two remained very close.
After high school, Marcia went to Ricks College. She met Thomas Earl Stears on a blind date on New Year's Eve and the two were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 30, 1972. She then enrolled in the University of Idaho in Moscow. After returning to Idaho Falls, they welcomed six children to their happy home. Marcia enjoyed being a homemaker. In 1992, she went back to school at Idaho State University. Never one to so things half way, Marcia enjoyed employment at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for nearly 20 years. There, she made many wonderful friends and enjoyed the experience so much!
When not working Marcia loved being with her husband and family, so often times 'up in the hills.' She loved fishing and identifying the names of each wildflower. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. He served as a Cub Scout and Webelo's leader, and served in various capacities in the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society organizations. She was a wonderful 4-H leader/mother and baseball coach. Hers was always a cheerful disposition and outlook—especially during the hardest of times. Despite being in great pain, she always had a smile on her face.
Her family always cherished her and considered her an "angel in their midst" –despite their love of teasing her. She loved being a grandmother and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Lola Barnes; her parents-in-laws: Rue and Dorothy Stears.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Thomas Stears; beloved sister-in-law, Patricia Stears; Brothers: Bruce (Trudy) Barnes, Craig (Suzie) Barnes and Rick (Elise) Barnes; Daughters: Miranda Stears, Debbie Stears, Alison Stears and Michelle (Ben) Andrus; sons: Seth (Angela) Stears and Spencer Stears. She had 7 grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
