IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret
Andrus
November 19, 1933 – August 31, 2025
Margaret Roberts Andrus, 91 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Fairwinds Sand Creek Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She was born on November 19, 1933, in Rigby, Idaho, to William Carlos Roberts and Florence Emma Koller Roberts. She spent her childhood and youth with cherished friends and family in Sugar City, Idaho. She attended and graduated from Sugar Salem High School and later attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.
Margaret met and fell in love with Gary Todd Andrus, from Ucon, Idaho, whom she married on December 9, 1955. They were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.
They lived for a short time in Montpelier, Idaho, then to Blackfoot, and finally made their home in Idaho Falls, where they were able to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary.
Margaret and Gary raised and nurtured 5 children: Jeffrey, Wyatt, Holly, Kim, and Gerri. Her family will say that being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is the most notable legacy she will leave them. She was loving and fun in nature, and all who knew her will remember her beautiful example of a life well lived. They will nurture and share her wisdom with future generations of family and others.
While in Idaho Falls, Margaret served in many church callings. She was the Young Women's President twice and fostered faith and strength with the young women in her ward. She also served as the Relief Society President twice and loved the opportunities it gave her to care for and support her ward members in their needs. She dedicated much of her time and talents to her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was a beautiful example of serving others with a lifetime of unpretentious, compassionate, and selfless service.
Margaret also had many accomplishments in her career; she worked at Idaho National Lab in her early years as a radiation safety officer, was also employed by Melaleuca early in the business's founding years as one of the first 15 employees in the old Sears building downtown, and she spent several years working at Benson's Meat. Margaret was quite the athlete in her day and played on a championship softball team, she later went on to coach. She climbed Table Rock in the Teton Range at almost 12,000 feet which is not easy. She loved to camp with her family, go swimming in the blue waters of Hawaii, spending time in New York City, and hiking in the beautiful forests of Germany. From an early age, she loved to travel and looked forward to all the adventures of life.
Margaret and Gary served a faithful mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Pennsylvania, Harrisburg area for 18 months in 1992. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Margaret also served in and attended the Idaho Falls Temple for many years, where she felt the Savior's peace.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and facility attendants, along with Fairwinds Sandcreek and Bingham Rehab Center, where she was lovingly and compassionately cared for.
Margaret is survived by her two sons: Jeffrey (Gayla) Andrus of Groveland, Idaho and Wyatt (Elicia) Andrus of Ukiah, California; three daughters: Holly (Mark) Rose of Hermiston, Oregon, Kim Andrus Croft of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Gerri (Kenneth) Grover of Caldwell, Idaho; Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Todd Andrus; her parents; William Carlos Roberts and Florence Emma Koller Roberts; and three brothers: Norman Keith Roberts, William Carlos Roberts Jr., and Leonard K. Roberts; her sister, Thelma Roberts; and her grandson, Benjamin Charles Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 1st St, Idaho Falls, with her son Wyatt Andrus officiating. Following the service, interment will be at the Ucon Cemetery, where her son Jeffrey Andrus will offer the dedicatory prayer.
