Obituary

Margie Rachel (Gardner) Stabler, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Margie was born on May 9, 1937, in Lake Shore, Utah to Carlos and Margaret (Argyle) Gardner. She grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1955. She later earned her B.A. in English with High Honors from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

On April 30, 1955, she married Jack C. Stabler in Spanish Fork, Utah. Jack served in the Armed Forces which gave them opportunities to travel to other countries. While serving in Libya, Margie worked for the U.S. Embassy from 1956-1958. Upon their return to the United States, she worked for the State of Utah in Salt Lake City from 1958-1965. In 1965, the family moved to Canada, where Jack taught at the University of Saskatchewan, and Margie began working for Midwest Economic Research in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada from 1980-2003.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed being a part of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Margie enjoyed many hobbies. Some of those being genealogy, gardening, painting, traveling. Her most enjoyable moments were those spent with her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, for her patience and kindness to those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Stabler of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her children: James Madison (Linda) Stabler of Port Alberni, Canada, Mark Steven (Heather) Stabler of Watford City, N. Dakota, Ruthanne (Sidney) Schraeder of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Mishelle Carr Stabler of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gretchen Stabler; her parents; and her brother, Don C. Gardner.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Grant Central Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmortuary.com .
