Marian Idella Goodson, 88, of Ammon, died Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was under the care of Audra Burgener from Hands of Hope Hospice and at the time of her death Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Marian was born on October 31, 1928, in Coltman, Idaho, to Joseph William and Myrtle Laretta Brown Cromwell. On the day, she was born it was a rainy day so her brothers waited outside in the car while she was born in the family home. She attended school in the New Sweden and Idaho Falls area. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1946.
On June 22, 1947, she married Jacob Earl Goodson, in Rigby, Idaho, at her brother's home. They lived in Idaho Falls for 8 years, then moved to Ammon where they lived for 58 years until her death.
She worked for Rodger Brothers, RT French and Pillsbury.
Marian was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a camp director in the 4th ward and as Stake Assistant Director.
She enjoyed her garden and loved her roses. She enjoyed reading, camping, being outdoors and traveling. She went to Hawaii, Germany twice (while her son was in the military), and she traveled the Oregon coast with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob Earl Goodson, of Ammon, Idaho; her daughter, Vicki (Daniel) Ruddell, of Ammon, Idaho; her three sons: Steven Goodson, of Bay City, Oregon, Neil Goodson, of Ammon, Idaho, and Terry Goodson, of Fair Oaks, California; 16 grandchildren, 29 ½ great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Myrtle Cromwell; and three brothers: Joseph S. Cromwell, Elmer Cromwell and Vernal Cromwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Ammon 4th Ward Chapel, 4375 E. Sunnyside Road. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
