Marian Zina
Stallings
April 19, 1908 – August 17, 2008
She was born April 19, 1908, in Lewisville, Idaho, to Pehr Alfred Agren and Zina Elnora Hammond Agren. She grew up and attended school in Lewisville and graduated in 1924 from Midway High School. She graduated from Ricks College in 1926, and from Brigham Young University in 1928, with a Bachelor's degree.
On June 7, 1935, she married LaVon Stallings in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Nov. 13, 1964. She taught school from 1931 to 1973 in Lewisville, at Midway High, Rigby, Fairview, Miami, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; and in Idaho Falls.
She was an active church member where she served in many positions, including Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School, M.I.A. and as a organist and chorister. Marian served a church mission from 1928-1930 in the Eastern States Mission. During her mission, she participated in the first Hill Cumorah Pageant held then in the Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York. She also served as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the Templeton Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and as a member of the Rigby Study Club.
Marian enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, oil painting, playing the organ, piano and vibraharp, gardening, quilting, reading, and traveling world wide.
She was kind hearted, helpful to everyone, and would do anything for her family. She loved to have company and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Marian said if she ever hurt anyone, she did it unknowingly and hoped they would forgive her.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Linda Hoopes of Idaho Falls; grandchildren: Suzanne (Mark) Nolan of Pleasant Valley, New York; Pamela (Greg) Slevin of Boise, Idaho; Jeffrey (Valerie) Hoopes of Rigby; Karen (Richard) Phillips of Vauxhall, Alberta, Canada; Shauna Leavitt of Logan, Utah; Mary (Kevin) Fleming and Cindy Leavitt both of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Lisa (Wayne) Smith of Stettler, Alberta, Canada; 18 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Garth Leavitt of Canada; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Agren of Idaho Falls.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Anita Stallings Leavitt, and 2 brothers, Pehr and Carl Agren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Saturday one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery.
