Obituary

Marilyn Joyce Denning Cook, 82, of Idaho Falls, died November 9, 2008, at the Life Care Center. Joyce was born June 7, 1926, in Ammon, Idaho, to John Arthur Denning and Flossie Janette Dahle. She was the youngest of three children and loved her two older brothers. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother moved the family to Clarkston and then to Logan, Utah, where she grew up. Her mother later married Orrice Bradshaw when Joyce was 13. She graduated from Logan High School in 1944.

On September 4, 1946, she married William (Bill) R. Cook of Hyde Park, Utah, in the temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bill and Joyce made their first home in Logan, where Joyce worked for Logan Optical. They also lived in Ogden, Utah; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Naperville, Illinois; and returned to Idaho Falls in 1988. They are the parents of 5 children.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many leadership positions throughout her life, including Relief Society, ward sports programs, Young Women, and temple service. She enjoyed music, dancing, sewing, and homemaking and loved the yearly family vacations.

She is survived by her husband, William R. "Bill" Cook of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Marilyn (Kevin) Simister of Lindon, Utah; daughter, Marsha Price (Mark) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Linda Cook of Bellevue, Washington; son, Brian W. (Dana) Cook of Eagle, Idaho; daughter, Sandra Cook of Chicago, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Ardell and Jay Denning; and a granddaughter, Marci Price.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 14th, 2008, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, with Bishop Mark M. Price officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services in the mortuary. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
