Marilyn Rae Foster, 86, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Lily and Syringa Assisted Living under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Marilyn was born on December 1, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ray A. Naef and Ina Edna Holverson Naef. She was raised in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School.
On February 14, 1958, she married Richard “Dick” Foster in Idaho Falls. Together, they had four children: Brenda, Glenn, Jerry, and Boyd. The family made their home in Idaho Falls before later moving to Leadore, Idaho. Marilyn and Dick were later divorced.
Marilyn was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found joy in sewing, horseback riding, attending horse shows, food preservation, and fishing. She was also known for her beautiful singing voice and began singing for others at a young age, sharing her talent at weddings, funerals, and church services throughout her life. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, whom she loved deeply and fiercely.
She is survived by her sons: Glenn (Shanna) Foster, Jerry (Darcy) Foster, and Boyd (Jill) Foster, all of Leadore, Idaho; her son-in-law, Kyle Bird, of Tendoy, Idaho; her brother, Doug (Jackie) Naef; her sister, Colleen (Doug) Hammon; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Bird; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Foster; her brothers, Richard Naef and David Naef; her sisters: Lois Tomchak, Joan Naef, and Julie Naef; a step-grandson, a step-great-grandson, and her former husband, Richard “Dick” Foster.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
