Obituary

Marion "Boyd" Stewart, 76, Ammon resident, died Sat., Jan. 31, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 29, 1932, in Wilford, Idaho, to Andrew E. Stewart and Alta Fern Romrell Stewart. He grew up in St. Anthony and spent a great deal of time in Yellowstone National Park as a young man working with his grandfather as a lumberjack. In 1951, he graduated from high school in Gardener, Montana. He attended Ricks College for a year and then Utah State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On Aug. 27, 1958, he married Janet Marie Bjornestad in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two year mission to the Great Lakes Mission in 1956-57. He had served as the Elders Quorum President and in the scouting program for about 30 years.

He enjoyed leather art, woodworking, hunting and camping. Boyd was a loving, honest man and had a wealth of information on anything and everything.

He is survived by the following: wife, Janet Marie Stewart of Ammon;daughters: Sandra (Rocky) Ramos of Inkom and Carol E. Stewart of Billings,Montana; sons: Roy A. (Raelynn) Stewart of Shelley; Michael R. Stewart and Raymond F. Stewart both of Ammon; sister, Alta F. Stewart of Rexburg;13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Boyd Stewart; a daughter, Sharen Stewart a grandson, Rocky Ramos, and a brother Orvil Stewart.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at the Ammon LDS First Ward Church, 3000 Central Ave., Ammon, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and at the church one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
