December 24, 1921 – October 2, 2006
She was born December 24, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Floyd Hansen and Irene Gowan Hansen. She was raised and attended schools in Salt Lake City. In 1938, she graduated from East High School. She attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
On April 21, 1939, she married M.C. Ballenger in Salt Lake City. He passed away in 1976. She taught school in Idaho Falls School District 91.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a Red Cross volunteer and a reading tutor. She enjoyed traveling the world and quilting. Marjorie was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by the following: daughters: Barbara Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, and Marcia (Wilson) Buchanan of New Castle, Washington; sons: Mark (Jane) Ballenger of Morrison, Colorado and Reade Ballenger of Evansville, Indiana. 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters; Thelma, Lilia, Betty, and Lois.
Memorial services will be October 4, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 665 John Adams Parkway, Idaho Falls, with Rev. Al McGuire officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho.
