IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie Anne
Brewer
September 11, 1922 – March 20, 2021
Marjorie Anne Beus Brewer, a proud great-great-grandmother and beloved teacher, died March 20, 2021, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community in Idaho Falls, ID. She was 98.
Margie was born September 11, 1922, in Soda Springs, ID, to Mary Grace Campbell and Michael Edmund Beus, the sixth of seven children. After high school, she married Robert Hollis Christian on December 20, 1942; together they had 2 daughters: Lynda Sue and Carol Lee. The couple divorced in 1947. On September 22, 1950, Marjorie married Byron George Brewer in Evanston, WY and together they had one son, Jay Lyndal. George and Marjorie were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 20, 1985; George preceded Marjorie in death on November 6, 2011.
Marjorie was a legendary 6th-grade teacher for over 35 years in Idaho Falls and was voted School District #91 Teacher of the Year in 1975. She was a registered Parliamentarian and was honored many times for her volunteer work in the community.
Among her many talents were sewing, knitting, fishing, cooking, canning, and laughing...she was quick-witted and humorous, right to the end. "Gigi" is survived by her three children, twelve grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was dearly loved and admired and will be missed by young and old alike. Her favorite adieu was "toodleoodle"--so "toodleoodle", dear lady, until we meet again.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on April 14, 2021, at Fairview Cemetery, Soda Springs, ID. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.

Marjorie Anne (Beus) Brewer died on March 20, 2021. She lived a full and useful life for 98 years.
While she cultivated connections with her family and friends and had many hobbies and interests, she also deeply valued her rich rewarding professional life.
She was born and raised in the small town of Soda Springs, Idaho, graduated from Soda Springs High School and then University of Idaho, Southern Branch. She returned to Idaho State University for a BA in Ed in 1949 and the University of Utah for Teacher Certification in 1951. Her continuing education included an MA degree in Ed, Idaho State University, 1967, and independent study with the National Association of Parliamentarians to become a Professional Registered Parliamentarian.
She taught in Blackfoot and Preston, ID, was a cashier for Hudson Bay Fur Co, SLC, UT, clerked for the US Government at Ft. Douglas, UT, taught in SLC, UT, kept books for the family-owned Carey's Furniture and Appliance in Idaho Falls, ID and finally returned to teaching in Idaho Falls, ID, in the fall of 1969 until her retirement in 1989. Throughout her active and retirement years, Marjorie shared her parliamentary expertise with numerous individuals and groups as well as coaching Idaho Falls high school students active in the Business and Professional Association parliamentary competition, Boys and Girls State, and HOSA.
Marjorie held leadership positions in the following organizations: International Toastmistress Club Charter, President, Regional Supervisor, Regional Parliamentarian. Idaho PTA life member, parliamentarian, 3rd vice president; Idaho Gem Parliamentarians Charter President, Idaho State chairman; AARP volunteer serving as AARP/VOTE State Congressional #2 Coordinator; 55 Alive Mature Driving Instructor, Associate State Coordinator AARP Driver Safety Program; Idaho Falls Retired Teachers Assoc, President; Retired Educators Assoc of Idaho, State President; Past President and membership chairman of Retired Educators Assoc of Idaho; Neighborhood Watch leader
She was School District #91 Teacher of the Year in 1975, runner-up again 1984, a subject of biographical record in Who's Who of American Women Tenth Edition 1977-78 and Retired Educators Association of Idaho Hall of Fame 1999. Activities in the church included Blazer, teacher training instructor, Young Women's President, and a 30-month home mission at the Idaho Falls Family History Center. She volunteered at Eastern Idaho Technical College in math, reading, English, and ESL where she was awarded the Volunteer Tutor of the Year 1997-78 and Eastern Idaho Special Services Award for the most volunteer hours of community service in 1999. She also occasionally substituted for staff.
The only thing that slowed her down was the loss of vision due to macular degeneration and glaucoma. Ultimately, she had to leave her home for assisted living at age 90. She attended Blind School in SLC, UT while living with her daughter, Lynda Sue, but finally opted for Lincoln Court Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She continued to learn by listening to audiobooks on tape and never quit enjoying family visits. The Covid-19 lockdown and isolation throughout 2020 was tough for her and her family. We were so very grateful to have a few last good days with her in March 2021 after she went on hospice care. She will be buried at Fairview Cemetery, Soda Springs, Idaho.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Soda Springs, ID. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
